Page 1 of INTERNET BANKING- any help????

Hi, i was wanting to open an internet savings bank account and was wondering who people would recommend.

I want high interest and don`t want to be charged for the day to day running of the account.

I`ve looked at Egg(internet) and nationwide`s e-Saver.

Has anyone had any experience with Egg, are they any good.

I have an Egg credit card, and have found managing it on line fine. They also respond to queries fairly quickly (in my experience).

I too have an Egg credit card and I`ve never had any problems with the company.

I bank with First Direct and using it online or over the phone has always been good. Plus you can get your latest bank balance free via SMS at regular intervals. I`ve been a customer for 8 years so far.

Anyone got any other internet accounts- r they any good?

I`m with First Direct aswel, get a text message every Friday AM to make sure my pay has gone in, been with them for 5 years and have had no bad experience with them at all. Would deffinatly recomend them. not sure what they pay on interest as tend to live the wrong side of the zero.

I have a Halifax current account which pays a reasonable rate of interest (2-3% I think) and it is managable online. In fact, if you have multiple Halifax accounts (eg savings etc) you can add them to your online portfolia and manage them over the net. Might be a good option if you dont want to go the whole hog and go for a `proper` net bank?

I`ve been with HSBC for a few years. started using phone banking `bout 3 years ago and internet banking in the last year. Very easy, phone staff very helpful. Internet banking is nice and easy too.

I bank with if.com, and find the on line management pretty good. If you open a savings account with them, they give you the same rate on your current account too, so you don`t need to worry about scooping every last penny over to the saving saccount.
However, if I were looking again, I`d try elsewhere - you have to pay cheques in by post (which generally is fine as it`s 2 minutes walk to the post box, but a 3 mile drive to the nearest bank), but also you can`t use Halifax (which runs IF) to get money out over the counter. So when I wanted to buy a car for cash recently, I had to transfer money to my Nat West account, then go to Nat West and withdraw the money. Similarly when someone subsequently bought our old car for cash, I had to pay that cash in to Nat West, then write myself a cheque and post it to If.

LloydsTSB online banking lets you transfer money to any account from any bank as long as you have the sort-code and account number. A fantastic feature which all online banks should have!
