bez,

i`m told they`re quite reliable, *BUT* you`ll never know that you`re 100%
safe from getting a LIVE ban.

have a look at xbox-scene forums for more info.

Flashing the drive is quite easy, the games are an arse to do unless you have one of those "special" sammy drives or so im told :)

Recently took the plunge and got stuck into flashing both my Xbox premium and Elite consoles. No probs.

To clarify on the last posters comments, the only tricky drive to flash is the Lite-on. The Benq, samsung and Hitachi drives are very easy to flash. Games can be ripped using either the Samsung drive that comes with some Xbox`s or a Kreon or compatible pc drive.

Most people download the games, they need to be stealth patched in some cases but if you know where to look there is no probs.

a friend of mine that has his flashed says theres gonna be a banning wave in november, so it might be an idea to check for new firmware on a daily basis Before you try to sign into live.

apparently it only bans the console & not the Live account, my friend says that when this happens (if you get caught out) he just removes his hard drive, sells the xbox on fleabay, then gets a second hand core system & re flashes it.

bear in mind this isn`t something i`m well up on, but i thought i better pass on the info he gave me when i read this thread ;)

hope this helps.

What Microsoft plan to do is anybodies guess. Noone knows if they have improved or changed their detection methods.

What your friend said has some truth in it, the games coming out in the near future are what will be called wave4 games. This means that the information that Microsoft embed into the video partition on 360 games will be changed. Flashing firmware will be updated shortly after the next wave is released.

Just a heads up, a couple of my friends got Xbox Live bans last night, so if your running a flashed xbox, you might wanna wait for new firmware before connecting to Live.....

They still banning are they, I saw on IGN a load got done over the weekend, but it seemed to suggest you only got banned if you were playing a game before release date.

I`ve been advised to wait for the new firmare as 1.7? is out next week or the week after, in fairness I won`t use Xbox live that much anyway, so wouldn`t be end of the world.
