UK model Wii owners read and reply please!

Can you all do me a favour and "listen" to your mains adaptor?
Mine isn`t making the "normal" buzz internally, it`s making quite a noisy rattly-buzzy noise. As we all know these things are probably caked inside that plasticy goo stuff so probably not a quick fix for a user.

Obviously still under warranty but more concerned it might cause damage or be a new fault they haven`t considered with the UK units.

Anyway, different noise if you unplug it from the Wii whilst still connected to the mains. Wii appears to still work flawlessly so I think this is like a dodgy part inside the adapter.
All answers gratefully accepted peeps :D

Yep, the big grey box bit. Mine sounds almost similar to the buzzing noise the fan on my plasma makes.

Thought it was the hard drive whirring as it does the wiiConnect24 thing but obviously not...guess a call to Nintendo is on the cards then <sigh>

New information:
Only does it if the Wii is on STANDBY!
Silent during operation but buzzes on standby or when disconnected from the wii

More new info again!
(this is getting ridiculous!)

With the WiiConnect24 ON and the "Standby Connection" enabled the power adaptor is silent.
If disconnected from the Wii, low pitched sound, almost like a whine.
Connected to the Wii, on Standby and Wiiconnect24 enabled but standby connection disabled, wierd buzzing noise again.

Time to ring Nintendo on Monday though, I aint ripping everything apart for a temperamental PSU, if they can replace just that I`ll be happy.

Cheers for the help so far guys, if you could try the scenarios above I`d be über-grateful

Don`t apologise Coulter, you`ve answered what I needed to know!
(Which is: my PSU has a fault, not that it works fine when in "x" mode as yours is silent in all variations)

Oh, and btw, your Mii does surprisingly well at Baseball ;)
(you got the new golf game yet...? oh and PM me your location...IIRC you aint that far away...?)

Jimbo

Having the exact same problem as you with the noisy psu, and it being quiet when in exactly the same conditions as you mentioned.

It may be a faulty batch, as I`ve had my Wii less than a month! Any joy from Nintendo?
