I was curious, as in real life I know ppl who tried to get 360s and Wiis on launch, but not anyone who wants a ps3 at launch.

I`m still undecided about which out of 360, ps3 and Wii to get.

Sticking with my 360. - I only will consider getting the PS3 when the price drops down to that of its nearest competitors. Hopefully by that stage Microsoft will have a new 360 out with built in HD Drive ;)
Also found this on the 360 forums:
The guys over at journaldugamer.com report about the PS3 Midnight Launch in Paris, close to the Eiffel tower.
With less than 100 consoles sold out of the 1000 units available you can probably talk about another PR disaster for our friends at Sony. Actually it looks like the most entertaining part of the `event` was Microsoft crashing the party with a boat on the Seine (river) with a huge banner saying "Xbox 360 Loves You" for all PS3 buyers and press to see.

Also:

The launch of Sony`s PlayStation 3 games console got off to a feeble start last night last night with officials, media and security outnumbering customers for most of the evening.

Over 500 retailers around the country threw open their doors as the clock struck 12:00am, expecting the frenzy that accompanied the games console`s overseas debuts.

But most stores were virtually deserted, despite the 20,000 pre-orders Sony said it had received.

Even at the official launch event held at Myer`s Pitt Street store in Sydney`s CBD and attended by Sony`s local managing director, Michael Ephraim, media and security outnumbered PS3 fans until at least 11:00pm.

At midnight, about 40 PS3 buyers had arrived to collect their consoles, causing distress for the army of camera crews who turned up expecting to capture launch mayhem.

Desperate producers unashamedly asked the crowd to fake excitement when the cameras were rolling, while a team from 2Day FM let out bogus cheers to convince their radio listeners that a launch extravaganza was underway.

Im going to get one when they halve in price.

Being, sadly, an adult having one expensive console is deemed enough by TOH.

If it was christmas, I might have swung it, but in march, ive got a car to pay for, a holiday to pay for, a garden that needs landscaping, a kitchen that need re-fitting.

£500 (ps3, game, extra pad) could get us ten days in mykanos or something.

I`ll tell you what, though, if the PS3 had launched when it said it would, I would have got one rather than the 360. As it stands, Im very happy with the 360. Theres at least one AA game a month coming out and it looks amazing on my LCD.

Oh, and yeah, I knew people who went mad for the 360 at launch and charged around like maniacs for the Wii before christmas, but all of them are very `meh` about this launch.

Both Amazon and Play.com are showing in stock. In fact Play.com has been showing stock all week. Amazon will delivery for tomorow if I order before midday.

It was worth queuing in London though. 100 gamers at the launch in Oxford Street have been given a free £2500 46" Sont HDTV, and a taxi home.

The PS4 launch is going to be ridiculous now, with people expecting free tvs.

well, although i don`t want to be negative about the console itself, i`m glad that both the us launch & european launches have been far less than sony where expecting, mainly because sony seem to think anything they put "playstation" on will sell regardless of the price. especially given the starting price of the UK version :( like i say, i don`t mean to sound spiteful, & i can guarantee i`ll be getting one once the price drops, & thats certainly going to be before chrsitmas, but sony need to be taken down a peg or to, especialy if they actualy Want to remain the dominant leader in the console market.

I agree otherwise they`ll end up like Sega and Atari.

I know people who didn`t get a 360 because they are waiting for the PS3 to come out (although I asked them whether they knew how much it would cost).

I don`t know anyone who is actually getting one now or anytime in the near future anyway.

I don`t think there were many taken up at the midnight launch around here, because all the signs have been changed today to PS3 now in stock- no deposit required.

I might buy one down the line, in the end I bought the Gamecube, PS2 and normal Xbox, but this time I`ve only had an Xbox 360.

Don`t really anticipate me buying a Wii, it`s more one I would play around someone else`s, although I don`t know anyone who`s got one.

I think the main thing for me will be there will need to be about 3games that I would play that aren`t out on the Xbox 360 (Resident Evil now being mutli format could be big blow, although it was Gamecube last time around) and the price will need to drop around £200 at least.

I might buy one in the future, in fact I`d almost be tempted now if it wasn`t for the stupid price tag. I`m a bit of a gadget whore, but this is one piece of kit I can do without for the moment. I could justify it if I had enough time to play games, but I barely get 15 minutes in a week to do so at the minute.

Hmmm, that might explain why GMTV were reporting that people had been queing since Wednesday at Oxford St. Some folks must`ve got wind of the TV shebang through back channels. I had put it down to a Sony PR exec waving a fistful of cash under the noses of a few students...
