Page 1 of PS3 to PC monitor connection

is it possible to get a 1080p full hd picture if I have a compatible monitor with 1080p resolution or higher?
My current tv is only 1080i so the ps3 will only use 720p instead.

I thought the PS3 would output 1080i if the TV didn`t support 1080p?!
If not then that`s another excuse for me to decide against it.

It seems it does output in 1080i if you enable it. Phew
