Xbox 360 wireless steering wheel

mattwhite1 (Elite) posted this on Friday, 29th December 2006, 16:19

Wife got me one for Xmas, but I am not convinced that it is working properly. I stuck the driver disc in to upload the software and I dont recall a lot happening. The steering wheel does not provide a massive amount of feedback and seems fairly loose.

Anyone else got one of these, and can they describe what it feels like when driving?

Lucky bleeder firstly.

I haven`t got one but had a go in Toys R us 2 days ago and the force feedback was great.

Saddly there were no peddles so you had to hold your finger on A to accrelerate which crampped my style a bit.

I think there are only 2 games so far that work with it the special version of PGR3 in the box and NFS Carbon.

If you get it working I would like to hear your further comments.

Tony, was the wheel tight on turning? I can pretty much drive with one finger doing the steering, and I am pretty sure that cannot be correct. Actually makes the car very difficult to control

Right, got the bugger working properly.

Beware, while this is stated as a Wireless Steering Wheel, you dont get any force feedback when using the battery pack. All you get is a very loose wheel, which is near on impossible to steer with and you find the car veering all over the place and if you oversteer (which you will) then you are lurching everywhere and need to stop the car to get back on the straight and narrow.

Now, if you plug in the ac adaptor then it becomes a very hand accessory! The force feedback kicks in, and it feels just like the driving games that you used to get in the arcades. The pedals have the right amount of resistance to make for a top notch gaming experience.

I am still getting used to it, and am not the greatest advocate of driving games, but this wheel gives a new dimension and makes them fun to play.
