Grandia 3

If you are an RPG fan get saving up for this game now......its the best RPG game i have played in a very long time.

This is the Japanese version i am playing and am not sure if it is coming to the west, but probably will.

The graphics are absolutely lush and beautiful with amazing cutscenes and FMVs.....every scene looks like an oil painting, the voice acting also is of high quality, a lot of feeling and emotion has been put into all of the characters.

Probably the best graphics the PS2 has put out.

I know a little Japanese, but i think most people would manage to get through the game without many problems if you have played previous games.

I have played about 14hrs so far and i am totally addicted.....i have been falling away from the gaming scene recently....this has got me back into it!

You can`t really get lost, the route you have to go is pre-set with a map showing you where you have been and have yet to go.

The battle system is very similar to Grandia 2 and all items are represented with an icon showing you what it is....eg, weapon, health, magic.

If you are in a town, and need to do something to progress......talk to everyone and pick every option, usually a cutscene will happen taking you to the next chapter in the story.

When you are talking to characters and there is a lot of text, eventualy you will get two options to pick from, the first one says that you are not ready yet, the second option closes the chapter and lets the story progress into the next day.

I expect to get stuck as some point, but this would happen even when playing the game in English.

The battles are brilliant by the way!

Check out the GAMEFAQS FORUM first and ask what other people think.

How on earth can you work your way through a Japanese language RPG without knowing Japanese? :/

Dragon Quest 8 is another stonking looking game out at the moment in the land of the rising sun and probably never here.

I`ll give it a go to see if u need a degree in Japanese to get anything out of it.

I have just completed the first DVD.....it only took 18hrs 57mins, i had no problem navigating the menus of finding the places i had to go.

If you do try out this game, make sure you get yourself into a lot of random battles, there is a few bosses at the end of the first disc that take ages to beat, you will need to get up to about level 21 to beat them.

If so I`ll deffo give it a go.
I`m looking for a new RPG to play instead of Dark Cloud 2.

Yes, the game gets better as you play, the cutscenes and scenery are beautiful, the voice acting is great, all full of emotion........i would like to see this game get released with subtitles.

If you are not experienced with playing games in Japanese, you may not like it, i have been doing this for years, so you better think about it before you spend your money.

I`ve tried it for about half an hour. There is a lot of Jap text. Can`t see to get off the first little map......presumably I fly on the plane?

I`ll keep going a bit but I can`t see getting much enjoyment when I haven`t a clue what`s going on.

The graphics and sound is good and u can tell by the way it`s put together that it`s a quality title.

Hopefully they`ll bring out the US version soon.
