Had this player for a while now however just bought a microsoft xbox and want to enjoy 5.1 DD. I bought an official advanced scart cable and a cheap optical cable from game
i have set up as follows xbox scart to tv (tv only has one scart) and optical cable running from scart to digital out on back of home cinema. Problem is i cant get any sound the optical cable lights up red on each end so that seems to working and the inside the optical out socket lights up red so that seems ok, i have also selected Dolby Digital in xbox settings. I read somewhere the optical cable should go into the digital in on the back of the home cinema but on my philips it says digital out is this the same thing? Also of not in the philips manual there is an led saying "optical" but this does not light up. Any help would be great.
Have been searching the web for a pic of the back of your machine to confirm but I suspect that bwcause it is an all in one system your unit has no optical in on it. The optical out is in case you want to output to a separate amp or minidisc. It certainly looks like there is no way of getting your system to play the xbox in 5:1.
Not quite the answer you wanted but I hope it helps.

Yeah thought that might be the case never mind, as for the unit it also seems to be known as philips mx1060 it is listed as that on amazon uk and on the instruction manual
thanks anyway.
