faulty xbox?

fargo (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 27th January 2005, 22:30

My son,s xbox has started to develop a strange fault. It doesn`t seem to recognise his games(PAL) and dvd,s(region 2), yet it will play cdr and dvd-r discs. I don`t know if the drive(phillips one) is region locked/kaput?. I told him he`d be better off buying another xbox, because he`s getting Halo2 withdraw symptoms.Any console deals out there?,and could he salvage his old xbox?new drive? is it worth it?

Get a new drive, easy to fit if you have a torx screwdriver.

Is that the time? Give me a minute and I will be there when I finish on the comp!

As we now have a spare xbox, I was thinking of moding it, on the cheap, use it as a media player? I know alot of you have modded boxes :) If you could give us some ideas/help what I should do with it, seems a shame to leave it gathering dust
