You`ve seen the show, forget my ride - I got an XBOX for Christmas and after reading various threads, what do you need to turn the XBOX into the ultimate machine.

are you in london? there is a top cybercafe in clapham where they have the most macking chipped x-boxes, LEDs all over the place, and very nice too...
other than that i think all you need is a whopping great hard drive, a chip and more games than you can shake a stick at...

What`s all this MAME about and can it be added to the system? I take it to change the hard drive is not more difficult that a P.C.`s and are the same type?

i think MAME is an arcade emulator, which in itself is pretty cool..
at the moment my mod box is gathering dust as it got kicked off of x-box live (i forgot to turn the chip off one time) so i have a well behaved and shiny crystal box to play Halo on..
not sure about the H drive as a mate did mine a long time ago.. he quite happily sat there soldering away for an hour or so and the rest was history. that was well over 18 months ago though, maybe things are a lot easier..

if I was going to chip my xbox I would look at xbox-scene.com great site for info and buy a solderless chip. The spider chip works on all versions of xbox and should take 10 mins to install. you can download arcade (mame), commodore 64, nintendo64, sega megadrive, nes, gameboy advance and many other emulators all work great on an xbox. as said above baldbouncers site is great for getting the chip....
