Hi
My little boys PS2 has suddenly stopped reading disks - any disks ! I was just about to go down the cleaning route when my brother-in-law offered me his PS2 for spares which was recently `nuked` in a lightening storm and replaced by his insurance co. I`ve had the top off his old machine and the drive unit is only held by 2 screws but I can`t figure out how to disconnect the ribbon connector from the board and I don`t want to force it. Anybody got any advice on how to best disconnect this cable ?? Cheers. :D

Look to the sides of the plastic holder of the ribbon cable. Sometimes there are a couple of little "notches" that press outwards, and free the cable.
Basically acts like a vice or "jaws" and when you put the cable back in, press the clip home, and the cable is gripped again.
