What do I get my 5 year old Son for Christmas,an X-Box or PS2?...bearing in mind that his old man likes racing, golf, and snooker games!

PS2. Far more games out there across the spectrum you want. And while i`m sure the x-box is great for quality of graphics, if you have a 5 yr old, is he really going to care about the quality of the picture - he`ll just want to play, have fun, and tell his mates he has a ps2.

Driving games - You can get second hand Gran turismo 3 really cheap now, plus GT4 is coming out in the near future.

As for golf, with a little kid, you`d want to consider Disney Golf. (based on Swing away golf). has a Disney theme, highly playable and both kid and adult friendly.

Don`t now about snooker, but i`d imagine there`s plenty out there.

Lots of kiddie titles too for your son, though don`t imagine he`ll get to play on it much :-)

There is going to be alot of conflicting opinions here. I would always choose the xbox over any of the others. However there are not so many games with young children in mind, but you would love it for its selection of racing games.

Simple answer is :- PS2

NOT FOR THE GAMES but for the controller.

I have a 3 & 5 year old & both can play the PS2 but both struggle with the size of the Xbox controller, even the S type is still too big

I ended up buying the adaptors so that they can use the PS2 controllers on the Xbox but they are a pain as they can suddenly stop working :(

So if its for your kid, PS2, for you Xbox

Baring in mind I`ve got all of the consoles, I`d say the Gamecube. Why?

Racing Games - Mario Kart, F-Zero GX, Burnout 2
Golf - Mario Golf of course
Snooker Games - a difficult one, but there`s Monkey Ball 1 or 2 which both have pool on it. I think there may be a World Championship Snooker game though as well.

The controller is very suitable for a 5 year old, there are lots of great games for adults and kids as well. Xbox is more of an adult console in my opinion - for a child the Gamecube is ideal. Also there is Mario Party 5 out at Xmas, which is basically a board game, which is fantastic fun for all of the family - believe me you`ll have a great time. I spent last Xmas playing Mario Party 4 with my family and loved every minute of it.

Totally agree - it seems most gaming sites agree that the gamecube will have the strongest Xmas line up after last years catastrophe.
Also, the 99 Euro price cut is due to happen, which will drop the price in this country (if we still get charged £99 then just import from France abd save £30).

Another reason for the cube: Rogue Leader 3 - enough to make any console owner have sex wee.

Very true!!! Will have said game next month (pre-ordered from DVDBoxOffice.com. Cannot wait!

Also, Viewtiful Joe is another one that is essential. Edge gave it game of the year at some awards thing last month.

How rich is Santa , that is the question. If santa`s money belt is bulging then hey , buy all three consoles.......................... :D

joking apart....i would say if it is for your little un then PS2 , loads of good games for the kids and a great selection for you too. but just remember to let him have a go every now and then to keep him happy... ;)
