Page 1 of Gamecube RGB cable mmm...
Gaming and Consoles Forum
Found myself a second hand RGB cable for a tenner at the weekend. Bought the fabled scart switch box from Argos, I now have both my PS2 and my Gamecube plugged in to my single RGB socket, and the improvement is fantastic. Even without the 60Hz mode switched on it knocks spots off the composite cable.
Which brings me to an interesting question: why, in today`s 3rd generation console market, do the big players still bundle their consoles with crappy cables? Surely it`s a bit like selling Ferraris with a 60mph speed restrictor on them, and beaded seat cushions?
I have to say that the Gamecube picture quality through the composite cable sucked big time. Since you require a scart socket for the bundled cable anyway (OK, or RCA plugs), why didn`t they just include a decent cable as standard?
Three reasons I can think of:
1. It`s an improvement over the old RF lead
2. It allows the majorty of people to connect to their TV/VCR without problems.
3. It`s an easy way to make money, it`s like the memory card, whay isn`t that essential item included?
Have to agree, the official cable is superb.
I got an unnofficial one which was far too bright, it didnt look good at all.
The official one is simply amazind though, the improvement is immense.
