Eggs on LOTR:FOTR Extended edition
Hi there,
First post so bare with me :)
Was checking out information on the Extended edition of Fellowship of the Ring and read about two eggs on the R1 set. The first being on disc 1 and the 2nd being on disc 2. Information on the eggs is below. Having purchased the Region 2 version, and after having a good search through the 1st 2 discs, I couldn`t find the eggs.
So I guess this post is both a warning to those who are still wondering which version to buy, and a request to anyone with the R2 version to see if they have/or can find the eggs.
ManyThanks
Topper
Eggs:
"To find egg one, go into the Scene Selection menu on disc one, and
head to the final page where you`ll find the real Council of Elrond scene. Highlight that scene and press "down" to find an image of the Ring. Press enter to view the entire clip from MTV complete with an introduction from Peter Jackson."
Topper: This sounds very much like the excellent Mission Improbable that was on the M:I 2 DVD.
"The second egg can be found on disc two, and is the awesome four-minute "Fan Preview" of The Two Towers that was shown at the end
of The Fellowship of the Ring this past March as it was on the way out
of the theaters.
To watch the awesome trailer, go to the Scene Selection menu and navigate your way to the final page where you`ll find the chapter with
the Fan Club Credits. Move the cursor to the numbers on the far right
of the screen, and when it`s on "48" press down to make an image of
the Two Towers appear. Press enter to view the trailer in full
anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio."
Topper: Really Wouldn`t mind seeing this either as New Line never released a downloadable version of the preview
Cheers

RE: Eggs on LOTR:FOTR Extended edition
The MTV egg is not on the R2. I used my DVD-Rom drive to manually view each title and chapter on both disc 1 and 2. On disc 2 the trailer egg showed up in the title/chapters list - on disc1, nothing....
RE: Eggs on LOTR:FOTR Extended edition
Ok after some investigation it seems the problem is solved. The MTV clip is not on the R2 disc. Here is some info from TheOneRing.net that they obtained from BBFC:
"Two DVD extras for THE LORD OF THE RINGS caused the BBFC difficulties. The first was a `behind the scenes` documentary in which bad language and offensive hand gestures were used by members of the cast. These would have been unacceptable at the `PG` level so the bad language was dubbed out and the hand gestures removed, allowing the documentary to receive a `PG`. These cuts are reflected in the website record you mention (1 minute 16 seconds cut).
The second extra that caused us problems was the MTV spoof you refer to. Unlike the above documentary, however, the entire sequence was a problem at `PG` and could not be saved by cutting.
The sequence in question showed a spoof of the Council of Elrond at which one of the characters announces that, after a drunken session in a piercing parlour, the Ring has been attached to his penis! We gave the distributors the option of removing this sequence entirely so that the disc could retain its `PG` or, alternatively, accept a `12` certificate - in which case the whole box set would have to become a `12`. The distributors decided they did not want to raise the box set to a `12` so they did not proceed any further with this particular sequence. This is why there is no formal record for the MTV sequence on our website - the work was simply never passed by us in any version."

RE: Eggs on LOTR:FOTR Extended edition
As for the LOTR Extended edition on R2. The Two Towers Preview is there by going to chapter 48 and pressing down to highlight the towers you then press enter to see it.
I on a whole was pretty pleased with the R2 DVD. The MTV spoof that was left out was nothing to worry about as it was crap anyway!
There was only one problem I had with the Discs. The 5.1EX and DTS tracks on the main feature both have glitches in the sound. You mainly notice it when music is playing in the film. You will hear a weird skipping effect especially on heavy bass parts of the soundtrack.
This is only on the R2 Version and not the R1 Version as I spoke to New line Cinema and they told me that when they converted it from 5.1 DX NTSC to 5.1 DX Pal it was not done as it should have been resulting in the glitch. Another mistake by a big company! <FOX being the worst with the R2 24 DVDS>
On a whole though "GREAT MOVIE!" GREAT DVD SET. Can`t wait to see the second chapter in the trilogy.
RE: Eggs on LOTR:FOTR Extended edition
cheers for that, didn`t even know the scene selection existed on disc 2, till now <embarresed>. thanx for that egg.
RE: Eggs on LOTR:FOTR Extended edition
I was on a website, and there was a bloopers egg found on lotr extended edition;
Quote"There is also a blooper reel which you can access by starting the movie on Disc 1 then, at any point during the feature, using the DVD remote-control select Title 15 (title not chapter). There should be a way to access this using the menus so if you can find it let us know."
anyone ever find this egg?? I have had a go and only find that there are only 3 title on disc 1. Anyone shed any light on this?
