RE: LOTR:SE Region 2 Sound Problem

OK

people who have a big tv and a good surround kit <like me> will notice the glitches in the sound. I have spoken to New Line about this and they said it occured when the NTSC was converted to PAL. In order for the PAL film to stay in good sound quality the sound has to shift every 20 mins or so to get the PAL Diologue sync correct otherwise the mouths would be moving and the sound would come out about 10 secs later.

If you have a little portable 14 inch TV or just a normal nicam/mono TV Playback. You will obviously not notice it because your sound playback is crap.

And thats that!

Also All Entertainment in Video DVDS Have the same sync problem in the sound causing a glitch.

I own over 21 discs with this. Basically their converstion method for
Dimension Movies is crap!

I say ditch Entertainment in Video DVDS and replace them with Dimension Films which is their USA counterpart.

Example: look at the crummy Entertainment in video version of The Crow compared to the 2 disc Dimension films DVD Collectors Edition and I`ve proved my point.

RE: LOTR Ruined!!!!!

LondonLee,

I dont`t think so mate!

The LOTR Main Feature was not cut even by a second. if your going by the running time "of cause it will be different" PAL converstion are 4% quicker in speed then NTSC.

Only the following extras were cut.

1 line of swearing by sean bean was dubbed and hand gestures removed.

A really terrible MTV Spoof Easter egg was removed (Thank god!)

As for the TT DVD Next Yr It has already been confirmed that both the Movie and DVD releases will carry the new 12A Rating, which will mean they will have no reason to cut the DVD this time.

As for the fellowship of the ring being spread across 2 discs. I was not pleased about that I must say. They should have just left out the DTS track. DTS IS CRAP anyway! Its the same as pro-logic apart from he rear surrond speakers being in Mono instead of Stereo. That is nothing to worry about as 60% of movies use mono as the rear effects anyway as it is cheaper. The front speakers are always the main sound and they are always in Stereo so once again..."DITCH DTS!"

RE: LOTR Ruined!!!!!

He`s right!

DITCH THE DTS

Its crap anyway! I mean you are suppose to get better quality and better effects...THATS BULL! A non DTS amp via Pro Logic is vertically exactly the same apart from you get one track in mono instead of stereo, SO WHAT!.

RE: Eggs on LOTR:FOTR Extended edition

As for the LOTR Extended edition on R2. The Two Towers Preview is there by going to chapter 48 and pressing down to highlight the towers you then press enter to see it.

I on a whole was pretty pleased with the R2 DVD. The MTV spoof that was left out was nothing to worry about as it was crap anyway!

There was only one problem I had with the Discs. The 5.1EX and DTS tracks on the main feature both have glitches in the sound. You mainly notice it when music is playing in the film. You will hear a weird skipping effect especially on heavy bass parts of the soundtrack.

This is only on the R2 Version and not the R1 Version as I spoke to New line Cinema and they told me that when they converted it from 5.1 DX NTSC to 5.1 DX Pal it was not done as it should have been resulting in the glitch. Another mistake by a big company! <FOX being the worst with the R2 24 DVDS>

On a whole though "GREAT MOVIE!" GREAT DVD SET. Can`t wait to see the second chapter in the trilogy.
