LOTR Region 1 or Region 2 Collectors Edition Help?

Vittellus (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 7th May 2002, 22:45

Hi everyone,

I need some helpful information on the release of "Lord Of The Rings" Collectors Edtion that is being released in November. I want the extra half hour of the directors cut, but have read earlier threads that it will be cut in this country (R2) for reasons of a higher certificate rating from PG to a 15. But in America (R1) this will not be cut in the Collectors Edition, so I need to confirm of what is happening on this to clear things up. I can now order either of the two regions from Play for the November release but would really like Region 2 as I favour the frame rate for this country a lot better and so would prefer this. Please can anyone help give me some proper confirmation on this so I can place an order very soon.

Many Thanks,

"it will be cut in this country (R2) for reasons of a higher certificate rating from PG to a 15" where do you got that one from. According to the latest news/rumours the extended cut has been passed in the states with exactly the same rating than the theatrical cut (iePG13). So there is no real reason to believe that the UK edition will be cut. This makes sense as even Peter Jackson said on numeruous occasions that the 30 more min of the extended cut do NOT contain more gore!
I have the UK editions (theatrical and extended) on order and even if the BBFC decides to cut the niovember release(maybe due to longer fighting scenes, because that`s th only thing that they might have to give it a higher rating/cut for)
But remember the whole extended cut being cut only came up because some think that the BBFC can`t release it with a higher rating as it has the same name. Well to my knowledge the november release is caaled LOTR:FOTR EXTENDED CUT---------->>2 different names allows for 2 different ratings no??
Anyway we`ll see what comes out
