Fist of Legend - Region 2 release
Does anyone know what the true specs are for this great movie? Is it anamorphic widescreen, original language, original music? Anyone, anyone, Bueller, anyone?
RE: Fist of Legend - Region 2 release
The Di$ney R2 version is dubbed and no original language track. I think the film is letterboxed and not anamorphic as the Region 1 version wasn`t. If you want the original language, anamorphic print but you can understand French subtitles then buy the R2 French HK Video 2 DVD release, complete with the Disney dub version and the HK version. Unfortunately no English subs!! :-(
RE: Fist of Legend - Region 2 release
Yeah, I already saw that nice 2-disc edition on the french Amazon website, bit pricey though but certainly worth it. Pity about the lack of english subs although having said that I have the excellent 3-disc Brotherhood of the Wolf french release and to be honest it`s possible to muddle your way through it without good french - besides, I know Fist of Legend off by heart so subs aren`t even neccessary.
Cheers, I`m off to Amazon.fre, but why oh why do we have to put up with these lousy releases when the frogs seem to get the best ones? Who decides whether a specific region 2 country gets a special edition release?
The french seem to see films as something that doesn`t require popcorn, hotdogs and nachos to aid enjoyment and are not so prone to doing hack jobs on films to make them more popular to what they perceive as the core moneymaking audience. Its therefore not surprising that they are prepared to but out better quality DVDs. A recent item in Total Film highlighted the poor distribution of foreign films and shortage of multiplexes willing to show them and the only response to this was from UGC who took over the virgin chain and are french owned , one of their birmingham cinemas has at least one if not two such films on every week whereas warners star city with nearly 20 more screens seems to have given up and the only foreign films it shows these days are the bollywood films it uses to support a full 30 screens.
