The Day the Clown Cried is legendary at this point; a 1972 film made by and starring Jerry Lewis about a clown that mocks Hitler, and is punished by being sent to a concentration camp to entertain and lure children to their deaths.
Varying accounts from Lewis suggest that it was either so bad, or the production was so painfully fraught, that he refused to let anyone but close friends see it. Eventually he relented, and said that it could be screened 7 years after his death.
Well it’s 2024, and The Day The Clown Cried finally gets a screening.
