Is there any differences between the USA (R-1) and UK (R-2) versions of Hollow Man on DVD? Was anything cut from the UK version?
I notice it`s 18-rated on DVD but 15-rated on cinema. Has anything been restored on DVD or is it just because BBFC is stricter for home entertainment so they like to bump-up the age-limits?

All the regions are identical. Mind you, Columbia have announced a Superbit Deluxe 2 disc coming out, and I don`t know if this will have any more features than what`s already out. But it`s expected to carry a DTS track if this is important to you.
The image and sound quality of the current R2 disc is very, very good, so I`m personally not going to bother with the new disc.

According to the BBFC, Hollow Man is 18 rated in all flavours (Cinema, DVD, VHS and Video On Demand) for "coarse language, strong horror and violence" (mainly simulated violence against animals). The cinema version and the home versions have identical running times (taking PAL speedup into account) so you don`t really benefit from getting R1 over R2 - in fact you`ll see a clearer picture on R2.
You can probably pick up a copy dirt cheap in a sale, as (IMHO) the "special edition" can`t be much better than the standard version.
Oops - been thinking - "superbit" releases usually have fewer or no extras to make way for the increased picture and sound data. From what reports I`ve heard, few people can discern any improvement in quality between ordinary DVDs and "Superbit" DVDs, so I`d stick with the R2 version currently available.
