A surprisingly good film. Good music, good storyline.
Had to take a son and grandson to the flicks, and this was chosen by them.
Its a CGI well made cartoon type characters where a talking dog adopts a boy, and there is a lost through time incident, allowing many ancient characters to interact with the dog and boy.
What makes these films good is that it is not just targeted for the kids, but has adult jokes within it, so that we adults enjoy it as well.
There are quite a few surprising historical characters and many are known faces like Kirk Douglas, and even the nasty woman in control of adoption, looks the spitting image of the evil Dolores Umbridge (of harry potter fame), giving an instant dislike by one and all.
Overall, it was a really good film, good story, and we will buy the DVD when it comes out and give it to the grandson.

This is a targeted at Kids film and the jokes/characters were way above the kids heads and learning levels.
Might be good animation etc and the kids I took enjoyed it but most of the historical references were lost on them and I made a fair few comments about how they were too "adult" for them.
Personally won;t be buying it on release but they did get a free T shirt cos we went to an early release screening at the start of February.

I always think it better to balenced out for both adult and kids, as we recently went to Disney's 'Frozen' which was really a bore for us adults, and even the kids did not laugh much, except for the antics of the snowman. I prefered Peabody.
The best type of these animated CGI films is a always a clever balance for all viewers, young and old, like for example, the 'Ice Age' series, and 'Madagascar' series' and the 'Happy Feet' series.
Took my two to see this on Friday while the mrs was at work, they both really enjoyed it (age 6 & 8).
Although they didn't understand all the historical references, they did get some of them - and the 8 year old asked me about a few of the others afterwards, so he ended up learning something too.
Thoroughly enjoyed it here - not as much as the Lego Movie though!
