Page 1 of Donnie Darko- A must see film?
DVDs & Films Forum
I have heard very little about this film. Has anyone seen it? Is it worth getting. On Imdb they cannot praise it enough. The dvd is out soon on r1. Was it released in the UK? It looks good and from what i hear, very intelligent.
RE: Donnie Darko- A must see film?
I read such good reviews that I`ve ordered it blind - not arrived yet. No UK release date as far as I know.

This film will keep you thinking for ages! I do think its either a love it or hate it movie. People will probably hate it because it doesn`t
have a straight forward conclusion. Like I said it will provoke alot of discussion
later. This film had a very limited release in the US and more than likely
won`t see the light of day in the UK, which is a shame.
Well worth a look.

RE: Donnie Darko- A must see film?
The reason this movie came out straight to video was because it was released at the time of the Sept 11th tragedy and the movie has a *SPOILER*
scene where a plane engine crashes, so they couldn`t and didn`t want to release it.
although iv`e heard it is one of the best movies of 2001.

RE: Donnie Darko- A must see film?
It is a must see film if you don`t mind being as captivated as you are puzzled until the closing scenes. Very funny dark humour in places, restrained hints of David Lynch, Tim Burton - a subtle film with likeable and quite believable characters and some terrific performances.
Well worth getting on DVD - you get 20 extended/deleted scenes as well as some other interesting special features.
