Toy Story Picture Quality (R1)

I am disappointed with the picture quality on the above. Around the edge of objects is really pixely and when the camera pans I get a rippled movement effect on objects as well. I know it is computer animation and as with PC`s without a good enough graphics card you get this effect. Has anyone else had this this problem? I noticed it straight away and it`s bugging me. I have a lower end of the market 28", has it been found out?

I`ve not had any problems with this disc - if all your other films are playing fine, maybe there`s something wrong with your Toy Story and it might be worth getting it replaced?

Is your DVD player set to output NTSC, or automatic, or PAL ?

It sounds like your DVD player is doing the NTSC-PAL conversion for you. Best to have the player passing the signal to the TV in NTSC (as long as your TV displays NTSC).

The Toy Story 2 disc is reference quality, so if you have any qualms about the picture quality there must be some problem, either with the equipment or the setup.

does sound like a NTSC->PAL conversion problem.

Toy Story was a digital to digital tranfer to dvd and is more or less perfect.

Give those men a cigar. Thanks Dan & cw2000. You were spot on, I checked my player and it was set to PAL. I thought I had it on auto.
