Seven R2 and scan sc-2000

Rob Latus (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 4th January 2002, 17:25

I have recently purchased seven on dvd and when i play it i am seeing pixelation and blockiness in some of the scenes, but only in the background ie on walls etc behind the actors. also the contrast seems to be sort of pulsating slightly.

I have had the player for about 13 months and i have not had any trouble from it. all my other disks play fine and when i try seven in a friends dvd player it plays ok??

could this be a software problem?? is there a new firmware that can be downloaded??

any help or advice is much appreciated

I know the problem and its not good news :(

I had a Logix 3000 which used the same board and video decoder as the scan.

Not only did I have problems with Se7en, but 3 or 4 other disks. The player was 9 months old, so I contacted the manufacturere who acknoeledged the problem and duly depatched a new player(with updated decoder and mainboard) and picked up the old one.

try your luck with Scan

Thanks for the reply. I am disapointed to hear this news but i have e-mailed scan and i will see what they have to say.
However i did not have an invoice number to quote them so i don`t know how much joy i will get, also the player is 13 months old now , just outside the 12 months warrany and i don`t have the receipt any more.
But i will see if they get back to me. Do you know of the best way to contact them ?

All is not lost, at 13 months old you may have one of the first scans to have updatable firmware via CDR, is so then flashing the firmware will sort many problems out.
