Proline 2000 Firmware Upgrade

RoughRab (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 2nd December 2001, 20:54

I have just received an e-mail back from Comet customer services. They said if I wanted my firmware upgraded, I just had to take my player into my local store and they would carry out the upgrade for me. I`m going in tomorrow so I`ll let you know how I get on.

I upgraded my goodmans dvd 3000 which is exactly the same as proline 2000 and oritron 600, ages ago. I emailed oritron(couldnt find anything on goodmans on the web) who asked for my checksum/software datecode etc and sent me the disc with instructions. Had no problems with any unfaulty discs such as disney ones or Terminator ever since. Anyway its worth doing.

Went into the shop and they said their Customer Service were talking rubbish. They did however give me the number of their local service desk. The Comet man said I should phone and an engineer would come to the house. We shall see. I`ll let you know. See Ya!

Once again their info was duff. Had to phone the Cust. Support line and they told me to take it to the nearest comet workshop(a good few miles away). Once there, however, they upgraded it in no time and now my player plays everything I have.( My problems were with 2 region 4 James Bond films.) It`s worth the hassle I suppose. Have a nice Christmas :)
