Who here has Fawlty Towers Series 1 (R2)

I got mine from Play and everytime I try to play the last 3 episodes it crashes. I`ve tried this on both a Himage 595 and Aiwa 370. However the DVD did work on my laptop.

Who here has Fawlty Towers Series 1 on R2 DVD. Have you had any problems? Unless its a fault with my particular disc someone else must of had problems as I`ve found 2 out of 3 players I`ve tried have.

Yeah but the 1st disc would still probably have problems.

I`m waiting for the box of both as well - maybe IF there is a disc recall they will sort it out before then.

Got refund on my copy from Play and bought a copy from HMV - still had problem.

However I have found a fix which will do for anyone else having problems until the BBC recall the damn thing!

From the chapter/episode select menu select your scene/episode as normal.
If DVD freezes (it only does on the last 3 episodes) press STOP. Then press PLAY. From there on it plays fine. Problem solved. Hopefully a recall will be done soon.

BBC have been really naughty here there is a better digi - pack of Fawlty Towers out in November with 2 new interviews with John Cleese and some other extras not on the disks available now , so i think i`ve very wisely waited. You could always send them back ?

I may well do that. I know someone who will buy my series 2 (I got it from Play) and I got my series 1 from HMV. I`ll keep it until the boxset is out then get I refund as HMV allow up to 60 days to do so. I know thats a bit cheeky but it serves the BBC right and as for HMV they won`t care.

Hi,

Can anyone confirm that The Beeb have issued a recall on Series 1 ? I`ve had 3 different copies from 3 different suppliers and they all have the same problems on my Arcam dv88 :-( Am I gonna have to live with it ?

What about the 3 disc complete series 1&2 ? Does that have the same probs with disc 1 ? What about region 1 ?

Thanks
