Big A (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 14th September 2001, 19:26

Hi

Can somrbody please tell me why the region 2 Simpsons is £31.99 on Play247 whilst the exact same region 1 version is only £17.99

Both appear to have the same release dates?

Is there something I am missing??

Thanks

Big A,
He means you would be missing £14 from your pocket if you bought R2.
If your player is multiregion get R1, I am.

The reason it is 17.99 is to get past import restrictions, which means Import duty can be charged if the item is 18 quid or over (36 or over for a gift), you will find very few single DVDs from R1 at Play for over 18 quid)

Yeah, but they`re not going to sell it at a loss just to get past import restrictions, are they?

Play managed to get a good bulk order deal with the R1 version (this kind of discount would be impossible with the R2 version) this allows Play to sell it at a 40% discount. (Also the RRP of the R2 version is £10 higher than the R1 version)

But the extras look different and this is a three disk set - are they in fact identical or not?

Works out at approx £26 at ezy....with Simpsons Guide to Springfield book (worth £10) thrown in. Question: will the book mean more postage charges??? And what about customs (it genuinely is a present for my son!)
