Page 1 of `Batman Returns` region 2 DVD missing commentary?!!

Although I have not bought it yet, and definitely won`t if this is true, I have heard from many people who bought the region 2 S.E. DVD of Batman Returns that the commentary is totally missing from disc 1!!!

I have heard that it may have something to do with it not being in sync with the rest of the film due to the cuts made by the BFFC. This is just ridiculous! How can Warner advertise it on the DVD when it isn`t even there?!

I hope to God that Warner are going to sort this out quick!!! This is nothing but absolute incompetence.

Has anyone other region 2 buyer had this problem?

Um, Stantz, I am talking about the region 2 Batman Returns, not the region 1 Batman Begins!

Maybe if you had even bothered to read my post properly you would have noticed that.

I bought the Region 2/4 encoded disc and it has the commentary and is uncut as it`s the Australian release. This can be purchased quite cheaply from DVDCrave or CDWow.

Hi , yes it is indeed "missing" I purchased all four yesterday having previously bought them a few years ago. I was so annoyed that I`ll never buy a UK title again without checking first...I`ll be returning this title, indeed all four Batman movies "special editions" and buying US or Aussie versions....as far as I`m aware there are two cuts one for an aerosol can placed in a microwave by Catwoman causing an explosion and one for a headbutt (a la matrix) stupid thing though is that on the trailer the headbutt is there ????

One last thing Warner`s are great at cheating us UK folks Goonies commentary missing although this has been fixed now...Matrix, Lethal Weapon 4, Cobra, Demolition Man, It, Willie Wonka all have had their Commentary tracks removed and they tell us to buy region 2 versions ....Yeah Right

I`ve bought the DVD and the rumors are correct there is absolutley no commentary on the Disc. I`m gutted as the commentary on the original Batman film was really cool i don`t understand why warner have released it.

I`ve just bought this on the strength that it had a director`s commentary, and am p***ed off to find that it hasn`t got one.

Perhaps a quick word/email to Trading Standards?

Also I wonder - what on earth is the role of the VPRC? They apparently review all video packaging, but in what way? They certainly don`t check that the packaging is correct....

Returned all four and re-ordered from CD WOW and all four are region 4 and uncut and include commentaries !!!
