The Warriors to be released in mono

Found out that the classic cult movie The Warriors is being released soon on dvd.But to my disapointment its only being released with a mono soundtrack and limited features a trailer i think. Why was this cult film not given the respect it deserves and given a full revamp.
Dont know if anyone watched this on the BBC last time but it had at least 5 minutes of extra footage at the start and the picture looked cleaner. Was there ever a speacial edition released on laser disc because id never seen that version before.
Theres obviously extra footage and still a strong cult interest in this film, with at least the over 25 year olds so i feel thats its a missed oppertunity with a format such as dvd.

I agree about the extra footage at the start. I have only seen this when it is aired by the BBC. It doesn`t exist on my VHS version.
Why it was cut I`ll never know! It makes much more sense as you see at the start, where they end up again at the end of the film (a common narrative in film making)
I hope the DVD will include this opening sequence.

Bit dissapointed that they haven`t remixed the sound in 5.1, but i`ll still buy it, as long as it includes the opening sequence.

Have you read the book?
It is completely different than the film and I must admit I found it very disturbing reading.

A 5.1 remix is a bit much to ask when The Warriors didn`t have a Surround soundtrack originally, don`t you think?

I dunno, you`ll be wanting Citizen Kane in colour next :-) What`s wrong with seeing a film as it was originally intended?

Don`t get me wrong, the lack of deleted scenes and so forth does smack of a missed opportunity - but it concerns me when people expect 22-year-old films to be "remixed" to suit their fancy new equipment, even though the result may sound nothing like it originally did in the cinema. The awful remix of "Jaws" is one example, and to add insult to injury they didn`t even include the proper mono track on the disc.
