Yet another problem with Gundig

Dragon Fire (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 7th May 2001, 20:43

I have posted here a few times to point out my frustration with Gundig and their DVD player. Yet again I have bought a disc that should work quite well in my player, but of course it does`nt. This time it is "The Cell" featuring Jeninfer Lopez. This disc will certainly load, but refuses to allow you access to the menu options. I have change the disc and again I have the same problems, so it can only be my Gundig player.

Since I bought this player I have discovered that it can`t play Matrix, Gladiator seconded disc, X-Men and The Cell. Since I have not tried every disc on the market, there is a good chance that there are many more that won`t play.

I really hope Gundig reads this, because I have phone your help line several times and each time I get the same answer. That is not your fault, the disc come out more advanced that your player. Well if thats the case then why don`t you stick a label on the player that says "Can only play a few discs". Basically you have abmitted that your machine is not as good as other manufactures and you just don`t care.

If anyone reading this and is thinking of buying a DVD player, do yourself a favor and stay clear of Gundig. Otherwise your only going to be able to play a few disc, certainly not the most popular films on the market.

Thanks for everyones time.

What model of Grundig? I have a Grundig 210A that`s played almost everything I`ve thrown at it with the exception of a few titles (Di$ney ones) that have clobbered everyone. Some models of machines are bitches, but that`s no reason to dismiss a whole manufacturer`s range.

Hi

I too have the Grundig 220. I have disc`s of X-Men and Gladiator. I have used the hack found on this site to make it region free. The player has consistantly palyed all discs without problem even RCE encoded...
