Is this on DVD? By the way, if you haven`t seen it it is excellent. I`m talking about the Gary Sinise version by the way, i don`t know if there are any other versions.

It`s really criminal that only the 1992 Malkovich/Sinise version is available in the UK and the 1939 version isn`t. The 1939 version, which won Best Picture at the 1940 Academy Awards, starred Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney Jr. Chaney`s characterisation (his finest performance) inspired two decades` of pop-culture reference not least in Warner Bros. cartoons. Steinbeck`s novel has been filmed five times in all, in 1939, 1970 (TV), 1975 (TV), 1981 and 1992. George has been played by Burgess Meredith, George Segal, Turkish actor Boskurt Kuruc, Robert Blake and Sinise. Lenny has been played by Lon Chaney Jr, Nicol Williamson, Turkish actor Seref Gursoy, Randy Quaid and John Malkovich.
