Page 1 of Threads (1980`s BBC Docu-Film)

Does anyone know were I can get this film on either VHS or DVD?
I know Ebay & Amazon have them but the prices seem so high (obviously it`s rare and hard to come by).

Any help would be most appreciative.

It was on BBC3 a few weeks back as part of their Apocalypse weekend, so if you had a DVD recorder or Sky+ you could have recorded it.
As far as I know Threads has been deleted in the UK, which is a shame as it`s a compelling Docu-Drama.
Had a look on Amazon and EBay and the prices there looking for are ridiculous.

I can`t see it at a decent price anywhere either I`m afraid. If you do find it somewhere then could you post it here as I wouldn`t mind owning this. A friend has it on VHS and I watched it recently. Very good and very depressing. And I`d forgotten that Reece Dinsdale (from tv`s "Home to Roost"!!!) was in it.

I remembered watching Threads way back on initial release. Very scary back then and just as so these days :o

Anyways, I kept tracking eBay listings for months and I could never get one under £50 :( I then happened along a seller who was doing `em for £10 each... needless to say it isn`t what a collector would want but as I had just missed it on BBC I thought what the hell.

Why they deleted this title is beyond me. There`s definitely still a market for the DVD. How big, who knows - but it`s as good as a lot of the rubbish that`s available from back catalogue.

Please think twice before buying this. I guarantee you won`t watch it more than once.

It`s really depressing.

Best watched on a rainy sunday afternoon, preferably with howling wind outside.

Rent, borrow...but don`t buy THREADS unless you`re desperate.

I taped it off BBC3

According to various sources, It is going to be re-released via the BBC (who didn`t own the video rights until recently..much like Edge Of Darkness.) . Hopefully remastered with some decent supplemental materials too. But will I buy it? I really don`t know.

I sold my DVD copy on Amazon some time ago for £25.00 and now I see it for upto £75.00!!!

I have to say....the picture quality is very poor and the story from the middle onwards gets rather tedious....and it`s sooo dated now! It made a point at the time it was made, a bit like `The Day After` another duff DVD that is even more tedious.

My advice is do not buy the current formats, as you will be wasting your dosh (IMHO). ;)
