Page 1 of Passion of the Christ rated 15 in ROI!

I have just bought the DVD of this and see that it was given a 15 rating in Ireland. What`s the thinking behind this? The Irish Censors Office is not usually known for it`s liberal decisions.

The Irish censors don`t have an anti-religious indoctrination agenda like the UK or US.

With or without a religious message, this is a very violent production which should be judged on its content. The Irish Censor has given it special treatment, as the extreme violence should have given it an 18 rating automatically.
