"Big Screen Britain"

Batavia (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 19th June 2004, 17:51

There is a nifty little series tucked away every Saturday on BBC2 at about 12.45 to 1.05pm presented by Ben Fogle.
They go to the locations where famous British films were made and show it as it was in the film and as it is now. They also have some of the actors, directors and extras from the original film on the locations again, telling of the filming. Also some behind the scenes footage of the film making.
So far I have seen "Far from the Madding Crowd", "The 39 Steps" and "Swallows and Amazons".
Just thought I would let people interested in film locations that there is a ten minute show on BBC2 that no one seems to have heard of.

It`s a marvellous show and well worth hunting down as the BBC regularly repeat it as a filler. The outstanding episodes are the one on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and the one on Whistle Down The Wind. I`d spend a tenner on a DVD of the series.

I have come to realise that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

This looked quite interesting to me, and I`d never heard of it before - I just searched Digiguide and there`s no listings. Is it just shown as a space filler if you happen to spot it, or has it now finished ??

Well it wasn`t on last night, instead they showed Spinal Tap, which I`d spend a tenner on.........but don`t have to as it`s £7.99 at Play summer sale.

This programme was on today (Wednesday), rescheduled. the film was "Brief Encounter" and was totally fascinating. Ben Fogle is also the prefect presenter for this series.
The next programme is scheduled for Sunday, BBC2 at 14.50.
