Page 1 of Soldier Blue coming on DVD. Uncut?

Soldier Blue is being released in Germany on DVD in July. Anyone know whether it will be Uncut?

hi there not sure whether uncut or not but all i remember is the fuss they made about it when it was shown film especially the tobacco pouch scene

Exactly. Soldier Blue has never been released uncut on Video or DVD anywhere in the World. Someone from Germany on another Forum claims that this forthcoming German DVD will be uncut.

but it was dubbed and the wrong aspect ratio.
Looking at the languages listed I would think this will be coming out in other countries as well. I wouldn`t order it until more info is available. Hope it is uncut I`ve been after this for ages.

Well it arrived today (along with an uncut, I hope, Chato`s Land and a Tito & Tarantula CD) from amazon.de and the packaging says `uncut original version` in German on the front :D . Audio is English, German, Italian or Spanish mono. Subs in German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese. Aspect ratio is 2.35:1 anamorphic. I`ll watch it over the weekend and post my opinion. :)

Watched it last night and can confirm that, as is says on the cover, it is uncut! :D
And for a picture this old (and rare) the picture quality is very good. The audio is even better and is one of the best mono tracks I`ve ever heard.
This DVD is well worth getting if your a fan of the film, a western fan or just want to see what the fuss is about.
I am so happy to finally have this film uncut and with such a quality transfer. :D :D

Somebody mentioned on another Forum, that the IMDB has the uncut version of Soldier Blue clocked at 114 minutes. Are you absolutely sure this new German version is uncut?

114 min is the running time at the cinema and is the same frames per second in the UK as the USA. On video or DVD it would be PAL and runs 4% faster at 25 fps. This accounts for the difference in running time. The BBFC lists the video running time as -

To obtain this category cuts of 0m 23s were required.

And also from the BBFC -

114 minutes is the complete running time at the cinema speed of 24 fps. The cut UK video ran 108:53 (when passed in 1986), with 36 seconds cut.

I`m the person who contributed that information to the IMDB, but that was before the video had been passed a couple more times, in 1999 and 2000, running 109:27 and 109:28 with 23 seconds cut. So 109 or 110 mins would be about right, given PAL speed-up.

Apparently US releases have been cut to drop the rating from R to PG - which presumably involved removing most of the last 10 minutes of the film.

So where`s the link to this DVD on Amazon.de that states it is `uncut` in German or any other language? The only one that I can find does not state this. :(
