Is the R2 verion of Highlander any good ? I heard that the R1 version was not a very good tranfer ...
It is true to say that the R1 transfer wasn`t that good, but it had a few good extras.I`ve seen the R2 available for £9.99 in a lot of places on the net, so you can`t go wrong really because it`s a quality film.
Has anybody watched the R2 version ? I want to know if it`s much better than VHS ...
Hi
I bought the film from woolworths for £12.99 and have to say that the picture quality seemed pretty good to me certainly better than VHS.
The disc includes a trailer photo album and filmographies and is presented in 16:9 compatible 4:3 format ratio 1:85 with a dolby digital 5.1
soundtrack running time 1hour 55min
I would recommend buying the dvd version as its probably as good a version as you`re going to get.
The R1 version looked awful because THX attempted to remaster the archived film (with disastrous results!). The finished print looks very grainy and they should have left it alone. The R2 edition is just a straight transfer onto DVD and is all the better for it. There`s an interview with Christopher Lambert (in french) which wasn`t on the American release. The remastered sound has been carried over though, and thankfully they did a first-rate job on that. If you like the film you must buy the R2 DVD.
Thanks for the info guys. My R2 copy is on it`s way (from 21store, £9.50 ish) :-)
