Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....
Yep arrived this morning - I know they buggered the listings over the Region 3 but they also failed in stating that the entire film is in Japanese with no English Audio. >:(
Cheers that was one big f**k up CD WOW - you`ll be getting this back!

RE: Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....
This post is copied from my reply in the bargains section but I thought it was also pertinent here.
Gleaned this info from here :-
http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ID=4539
At the bottom of the review it gives some info about the uncut releases and goes as follows,
Quote:
Apart from language and subtitle options (and some additional trailers), this title appears to be identical across Regions 1, 2 (UK) and 4. It would appear that Region 2 Japan and Region 3 Hong Kong are receiving the uncut version that was shown in their cinemas (see the censorship section for details), while Thailand is reportedly getting a disc that contains both versions, with the House Of Blue Leaves scene in colour and black & white. Buy it wherever you can find it cheapest, or better still - wait for the inevitable box set. For now, I`m giving it to the Region 2 Japanese (or alternatively the Region 3 Hong Kong) for its uncut status.
UPDATE: 11/04/04 - Reports are filtering through that the Region 3 Hong Kong disc contains bogus data on its sleeve and is in fact identical to the Region 1 release in length and censorship. The only uncut releases at this time appear to be the Thai and Korean discs, as well as the Region 2 Japanese - which is pretty expensive. My preferance for the Region 2 Japanese stands at this time.

Alternate Versions for
Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
The Japanese cut of the movie is more violently explicit than the American R-rated version.
Some prints of the film doesn`t show the "Shaw Scope" intro.
Some prints of the film shows the "Written & Directed by Quentin Tarantino" credit before the final scene with the Bride in the Air-o-plane, and some have it right at the end.
The print which places the "Written and Directed ..." credit before the final scene has The Bride talking to Bill on the church porch fade to full color when she asks "How did you find me?", whereas the other print only colorizes her eyes and earrings.
There are two Japanese versions of the film, one with only Japanese subtitles only, and one with Japanese subtitles for the English dialogue and English subtitles for the Japanese dialogue. The House of Blue Leaves fighting scene is shown in color in both versions.
Quentin Tarantino prepared a more graphic version of the film for Asian audiences. Only a few minutes longer, the film includes several extra violent moments, a longer animated sequence, and the entire House Of Leaves battle in color, rather the black and white used in the U.S. R-rated edition.
There is a print or prints that excludes the overhead shot of the Bride and other dead wedding attendants being examined by police right after "Chapter 3: The Blood-Spattered Bride" appears. It also excludes the two shots that usually follow and cuts directly to Sheriff Earl McGraw pulling up in front of the chapel. Thus, Charlie Feathers` contribution to the soundtrack is not heard in this print.
Confused?
I am, but then again that`s not difficult !
All I can say is I`m glad I questioned the subtitles for this dvd and held off on buying it, not usually one to pass up on a bargain, but for some reason I did this time.

RE: Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....
Cheers for the info. CDWOW are sending me a SAE so I can return it.
Looking at the info provided It gets a little more confusing as the copy I received has no English audio track!

RE: Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....
I noticed that as well on your post - what the heck is going on with this movie?
This has to be one of the most confusing releases ever.
Glad you are able to send it back.
:)
RE: Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....

RE: Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....
wait a few months - there will be the unrated cut (like leon) which does not require the MPAA rating system. why he didnt release it at the same time i have no clue.
RE: Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....
To clear up:
As far as I know there are only 2 releases available which have no b/w scenes and also contain 2 minutes of extra footage - the R2 Japanese release and R3 Thai release.
Both have optional English subtitles but whether either has burned in English subtitles for the Japanese Dialog parts is unknown. I doubt there will be burned in subs on the R2 Japanese release but some people have said the Thai release might have them. In any case, I`m going to buy the standard theatrical version to save trouble. I mean, are you going to put yourself through hell for a couple minutes extra that barely affect the original cut at all? Its really not worth it, and besides, when the SE is released you won`t have to worry.

RE: Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....
I recieved two packages this morning. The first was a SAE to send back my Kill Bill to cdwow. The second was the empty box that kill bill should have been in. Bloody theiving postmen - they should be strung up by the jewels. I contacted Royal Mail and lodged a complaint, and "they`ll look into it" which means I might get a refund and a book of stamps.
At least the postman got a crappy version of kill bill. I hope he chokes on it.
RE: Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....
Well lets hope your postman is not Chinese otherwise he`s got himself a DVD he`ll totally be able to understand. :D lol
"For every sprinkle I find I will kill you...."
RE: Just got Kill Bill from CDWOW and....
I recieved the R3 HK version from CD Wow and have just tried it out, the only audio on the disc is English 5.1 and English DTS. I havent seen Kill Bill before but I have been told that there is alot of Japanese Dialog during the film, maybe this is what you heard as I just skipped to chapter 4 and the scene where she is in the hospital bed and flashes back to the gunshot is voiced over in English, try your copy at this same scene badboybez and report back whether you hear English or not.
