Are Region 2 disc prices about to fall dramatically?
The reason I ask is because if you look at the "Coming Soon" release dates at Play247, a lot of the titles are significantly cheaper than the prices they have on R2 now. If you look at the release dates this change occurs at the end of Feb/ early March.
Does this mean that distributors/studios have changed their pricing policies, or is this just Play?
Examples( Some films are crap, but cheap for new releases.)
Scream 3 - £14.99
Shaft - £14.99
Hollow Man - £14.99
Little Vampire £11.99
These prices compared to the avarage of £17.99 they are charging for new R2 titles now may suggest that some movement in the pricing of DVD`s is about to take place.
RE: Are Region 2 disc prices about to fall dramatically?
£14.99 has been their price for standard R2 discs for a while. They tend to only charge £17.99 for Special Editions and 2-Disk sets, e.g. Gladiator, Fight Club, Terminator, etc.
As for Little Vampire, £11.99 is an excellent price and lower than anywhere else I have seen, so I ordered for the kids. Experience with Play247 suggests that they will honour that price.

Yeah, but Woolworth`s have started bringing prices down (okay £16.99 for a Top 20 release isn`t going to scare a lot of people), which could be a bit of a worry for the smaller online retailers. Good for the consumer, not good for e-commerce.

Prices are coming down, but I think the word "dramatically" is never likely to apply.
Studios still charge £19.99 for premium titles, more if its a 2-disc set. The only thing thats really changed is bare bones and older discs are no longer being given the same high pricing.
