I have just bought the region 4 version of "aliens special edition" from a web site in Australia. I knew it was the special edition but expected when playing it to be able to watch the original version if required (as with the ABYSS and T2),as I don`t like the extra footage. I borrowed a copy of this (region 2) from a friend (who has since moved) when I first got my player, and was sure that you could play just the original version. Anyone got this title in region 2, and if so can you play the original version on it. Thanks

I`ve got Aliens, and there`s definitely only one version of the film on the disc. Discs like The Abyss and T2 use "seamless branching" to bring you multiple versions, and I`m afraid it`s not used on Aliens so you`re stuck with the extra footage, some of which is certainly surplus to requirements !

I hpoe it is not that bad as i just ordered it 10 mins ago as i have just watched Alien which i orderd from ezydvd,com.au and thought it was that good (i have seen it a few times before) i went on line for Aliens. at £10.50 or so it is not bad

It`s not really that bad, let`s just say you can understand why some of the footage was cut from the original theatrical release. It`s still Aliens at heart!

I thought the new bits were ok actually.
The bit with the rear projected park scene was quite clever.
