Sound on T2

Is it just me or does the sound in the opening scenes of T2 sound `muted`?

In the war scene at the start, there doesn`t seem to be much `surround sound` and the base is quite tame. Nothing is `coming at you` or `around you` until one of the machines turns and fires a laser in your direction.

any comments?

It is a creative decision. Their is no need for surround sound (although you can hear the wind in the rear speakers), but then when the skull is crushed it makes you jump and then it hits you we are in the middle of a battle.

Just my opinion though.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it is ;-)

Personally I find the sound on the WHOLE of T2 to be overrated. I keep hearing about how it`s demo material, it isn`t. It`s dated. Nothing on it can compared to today`s mixes. Surrounds are not aggressive, no REALLY strong bass.

Personally I find the picture quality to be overrated too, and the film and the extras. Hell the T2: UE is OVERRATED!!! :o

Ok, you people! Sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. And if we`re not back by dawn... call the president.

for those perfect show-off-your-surround-sound moments I find the opening battle of Gladiator and the beach landing in Saving Private Ryan the best.

Not really the marks of a `perfect` mix though. Attack of the Clones has one of the best DD EX tracks I`ve ever heard, but it`s not all `aggressive` surround action and thumping bass. There`s a lot to be said for the subtle nuances found in mixes such as this one. FOTR also has one of the best tracks I`ve ever heard, but again, it`s not all crash bang stuff.

When it was released T2 was easily the best DVD to date (overall, and not counting the film). I think the picture is still pretty great to this day, especially when you take into account the fact that it was shot in Super 35 and is therefore a little more `grainy` than true anamorphic films.

No really strong bass, What kit you listening to it with?
put the UE on scene 20, I think. The one where it starts with Connor jumping out of multi-story car park on his bike. Listening to the whole of the chase there should be lots of bass.
Some where the truck crashes first few times. Alot more when he comes over the top and of the ledge as the truck bounces up and down alot, then when he crashes into the walls. Listening also for where terminator, drops down from a ledge there is some decent bass there for a patch.
But then listen to where at the end of this where the truck blows up. And tell me theres not much bass.

To name another DVD with alot of bass. Not that I agree like some that its about how much bass a DVD has that makes it good, and the more bass the better.
But to name a DVD - Blade 2, where they enter the nightclub, -try that.

If you want a DVD with too much bass just listen to the 5.1 mix on MGM`s Robocop SE! Christ, what a cock up that mix is!

Have to agree with Deals on this one. My R1 copy of T2 UE shakes the room with bass on the DTS track. The DD track is slightly flat sounding, but there`s still plenty of bass on my set up.
