Hi, having got a new cinema system (Acoustic Solutions 5.1) recently, can anyone recommend some films that really use 5.1 to its full potential? Pearl Harbour is great - sounds like the planes come thorugh the walls!!

If you have DTS, `Minority Report` was damn good - both `Star Wars` DVDs are very good, `The Fellowship of the Ring`, `Saving Private Ryan`, `Heat`, `Die Another Day`...the list is endless.

RE: What films utilise 5.1 fully?
See this
I know Rik mentioned it, but I feel I must repeat it. Attack Of The Clones is the best Soundtrack on DVD. It even wipes the floor with The Phantom Menace. Of course, because it is Sci-Fi, some people think it is too artificial. But just remember that 95% of the sound has been created in a studio (or not while filming) on any film. Hell, even dialogue is dubbed over now.
Ahem. Attack Of The Clones. :D

Yep, Chewie is right, and of course totally unbiased (change the name man, change the name...;-))

RE: What films utilise 5.1 fully?
Of the newer releases, get Daredevil - absolutely superb
sound design.
Yes, Daredevil does indeed have a great soundtrack, although I found the DTS somewhat underwhelming compared to the Dolby Digital track.

Have you got something against DTS chewie?
Nope. I usually listen to DTS, but on Daredevil I find it lacking compared to the Dolby track. Also, Gangs Of New York has a poor DTS mix compared to the Dolby track (not unexpected since EIV did f*ck up Fellowship Of The Ring DTS).
I used to think DTS was better, but now I don`t think there is any difference at all, and it all comes down to which one is better mastered - which is usually the Dolby track. Although T2 DTS is still demo material ;)
