Star Trek Enterprise Series 2 - on DVD only?

I have read this somewhere and wonder if anyone knows more about this - it would not surprise me as the tapes were, for the most part, not obtainable for rental and the precedent has been set by Stargate (4 eps per disc) although they have continued with VHS too for the time being.

I work in the Retail sector, and my sources are saying that it will be coming out only on DVD, due to the poor sales of the first series. The first series is due to be deleted in the very near future!!!

There was a rumour a few weeks ago that Season 2 would be released on DVD sometime this year but it has been strongly denied by Paramount who at the moment are concentrating on the release of Deep Space Nine in 2003 and Voyager in 2004.

"due to the poor sales of the first series"

Saw that one coming, `Enterprise` is utter rubbish so far.

Being a trekie fan I though I would give it a chance, as it took a long time to get into the trekie world of DS9 and Voyger.

But the acting is so wooden, the scripts are shoddy and copied from old episodes, they even had to bring in the Borg to brighten it up!!!

It has to try and get better or even the fans will pack it in.

I disagree that Enterprise is rubbish - the acting is far more relaxed than previous series and there is a great deal of fun to be had with this concept.

What exactly do you expect from the show? After all, Star Trek has been going a very long time and it is not possible to expect too many radically new ideas from a series that has run for 35 years!

It seems to me that they have made some reasonable departures from the previous formats and we might expect better to come - but even Star Trek has its limitations (unless you give it to other people to make).

I think that sales may have been poor due to the fact that the tapes were always listed under `E` for Enteprise and not `S` for Star Trek (certainly true in Blockbuster) and so became invisible to many people.
