I wouldn`t recommend ANY web site that deals in PIRATE software. The best place to get them is eBay. Just be sure that the person selling the discs has LOTS of POSITIVE feedback and doesn`t have a pair of sunglasses next to his name. I got the 5 Star Collection (I consider this the best set) for £20. Just keep looking for a good dealer and price. They sometimes go for stupid amounts of money.

Just remember that piracy costs the movie and record industry
billions of pounds each year.
And who do you think has to subsidise the companies for their
losses? Thats right, us!
Piracy sucks and anyone who has bought pirate copies also suck
IMO!!!

Eh, excuse me mate but if there isnt an official release of the Trilogy then how does the industry lose out to people buying the 5 star?. If myself or thousands of other people want to buy the 5 star collection, you nor anyone else for that matter needs to subsidise sh*t.

Your post is absolutly pointless mate. Think about it!!!!!!!!!

Indeed. I have already subsidised Lucas and co. by purchasing multiple copies of the VHS trilogy and the DVD releases of his films. If they can`t be bothered to bow to immense public pressure and deliver titles that everyone wants then people are going to seek out other sources. If there were ligitimate copies I`d buy them in a flash.

The best versions are the pre-5 Star releases, as they don`t have the audio and picture errors of those discs. They can be bought from eBay, but you tend to get rippe off as people push the price up to £50 or more in a lot of instances. Just do a Google search in uk.media.dvd and you`ll find one name comes up more often than anywhere else in relation to these.

Well, I`m sorry Bryan but I have to disagree with you.
I was talking about piracy in general, and whether you like it or not,
these copies of star wars on dvd are pirates.
And Mr. Gould, I`m very dissapointed in you for promoting piracy.
Who is going to profit from these? Mr. Lucas may well be a wealthy
man and even I wish he would release the original trilogy on dvd asap
but the franchise is his idea and therefore he should reap the rewards
not some organised crimelords who IMO deserve to be treated as
criminals and people who buy these pirate dvd`s are also criminals.
Think about it!!!

Organised crime lords!?!? LOL! Been listening to a bit too much of the movie/record industries PR spiel have we? I`m sure they all help to fund terrorist activity as well. Don`t be so sanctimonious, unless you can swear on those nearest and dearest to you that you have never, in your *entire* life, owned any form of copyrighted material without paying for it. I`m not just talking about "silvers", I'm talking about tapes that people may have made for you, things you`ve recorded off of the TV/radio etc, because like it or not, that's still stealing by your reckoning.

The movie industry is driven by the desire to make money, pure and simple. Do you honestly think if all piracy stopped tomorrow that we`d see a reduction in prices? No, they`d just come up with something else to blame. From what I`ve read the last few years have been some of the best ever for the movie industry, but I haven`t noticed a drop in prices. Mr. Lucas, one of the strongest voices in favour of digital technology, has had ample opportunity to release digital versions of his movies. What has he done? He`s released yet *more* analogue VHS tapes with a few "added extras" to try and get us all to buy them again. I have already paid for 2-3 boxed sets of the trilogy in my lifetime, I don`t want more shoddy analogue rubbish that will get chewed to bits at random intervals and look like someone has smeared Vaseline on the TV screen, I want DVD. How can this decision be anything other than a money making exercise? Don`t bleat on about the poor movie/record companies, as if you want to talk about criminal practice you could do a lot worse than starting with them.

(Chris, who owns three silvers and two VHS boxed sets, but who would gladly give them all up if he could just buy the official DVDs).

Have to agree with Chris and Ben_F 100% here. We will ALL buy these DVD`s when they are officially released so Lucas isn`t losing out on anything. I have numerous VHS boxsets, the VCD boxset (official) and a few DVD collections. The reason I have so many is not because I`m a collector, but because I want to have the BEST quality available.

And Chris, I think stand by the 5 Star DVD`s, and I have the ones you recommend. The 5 Star versions of A New Hope and Return of the Jedi are almost perfect, where as The Empire Strikes Back has a few niggles and can only be listened to in Dolby Surround.
