In Chapter 15, Kyra, what was the black liquid that the step-mother (I think) was pouring into the young girls`s drink that was keeping her ill?

I wondered that when it was on the other day. I think it was some kind of detergent, diluted enough to not be instantly fatal.

Well probaly some kind of Maple syrup I suppose, I mean there never was any poison was there, er it was a film and Bruce is very much alive honest.
