Ever since I have had a CD Writer I have used Verbatim blank discs and always use the Blue dyed ones with no problems Do any of you know of any other makes that are similar to these,are the Data Safe with Blue dye OK. I have been reluctant to buy discs cheap in bulk of the net,in case they dont work. I have a Freecom 4x speed writer, Thanks for any tips !!!! Long Live the King.

I always buy the cheapest 100pack, never had any problems yet. The Data Safe disc`s also work perfectly with me.

Do you bother about the colour of the dye,what make is your writer ?

The blue discs always seemed to work fine on all my drives (audio as well on my proper CD player).
In terms of build quality (ie how well made they are), TDK, Kodak and Pioneer as well as MMORE off the Insight website (can you still get them?) seemed to be the best.
The Kodak discs are greeny, yellow on the back but I`ve never had any problems with them. TDK used to produce a few write errors with my old Yamaha drive (which has since packed in).
Other blue discs - Imation, although I had problems reading these on an old CD drive. I think there`s a website somewhere that lists the colours of nearly every disc available. www.cdcopyworld.com or something similar.

Is there a difference in using discs for making music CDs to play in Hi-Fi cd players,which is what I mostly do ,and making Data Cds to play in your PC.
I have tried Memorex discs and silver type dye discs and the writer seems not to like them,but even a cheap disc with a blue dye seems to work ok,so I am looking to buy a bulk pack of 50 discs mostly to make music CDs with.

Yeah, I`m looking for CD-Rs to use for music purposes - I normally use Kodak CD-RWs for data backup/transfers, but now need some for music, so CD-R is the only option.

i always use e-proformance cd-r. £15.49 for 100 from www.bigpockets.co.uk. never lost one yet

I managed to use Nero to make an audio CD on a CD-RW.
For some reason it won`t let me format it any more so I can rewrite it. Any ideas?
