RE: Office XP Different Users

What install options are you choosing? It`s not install on first use is it? Do a Custom install and enure that most elements are set to run from the Computer.

RE: Watchdog: PS2 console failures

You could try a laser cleaning disk before you decide to take the thing apart, these things have helped with a PC DVD-ROM drive that was iffy but after the clean worked 100%

RE: `Game` shop games returns policy

"HMV still have the better return policy, you get about 21 days to return something + there is the added bonus of student discounts 10% off."

Do HMV actually allow this then, I`ve only ever returned 2 DVDs as they were faulty and exchanged them for the same DVDs. If you opened up a DVD or game played it and then returned it saying you didn`t like it surely they would say hard cheese, wouldn`t they?

RE: Has anyone got a Creative MP3 player or any other MP3 player?

I got my daughter a Freecom Beatman Flash 64, it`s a solid state player with 64mb or RAM built in and expandable via smartmedia. I listened to quite a few players and this one sounded the best, maybe due to the fact that you get a decent set of Koss headphones with the player. It`s teeny-weeny and you get around 10-11 hours of play from a bog standard AAA battery.

RE: What`s the weather like where you are? Genuine interest.

It was nice sunny day here in glorious Middlesex which was good for me as I had the builders in all weekend ripping my house apart and laying as much dust down as possible, meant I could open all the windows and freeze to death. :)

RE: That Iraqi Information Minister!

<< Has anyone got any information as to where he has gone? >>

I hear he`s been signed up for Jurassic Park IV, he`ll be the guy that tells the USA citizens everythings OK whilst entire streets are being pick-nicked on by a family of Rexs`.

RE: Chipped Xbox - best sites...?

You`d better be quick, didn`t some guy in the states recently get something like 5 months in jail, 2 years home supervision/probation and a £18,500 fine for selling the chips?

RE: Memory Upgrade, How difficult can it be?

So what type did you actually buy and it may be worth your while going back to ebuyers and saying that you asked what type would be required, were told this type but it doesn`t work and what should you do? A little white lie never hurt anybody. :)

RE: Memory Upgrade, How difficult can it be?

You machine use the following type of RAM:

168-PIN DIMM, SDRAM, NON PARITY, PC100 CL=2

Now then has the RAM you purchased a Cas Latency of 2, that`s what the CL=2 refers to, having said that most generic memory is in the main capable of being driven as CL2 even if it is of type CL3. Me thinks that EBuyers have sent out a duff, after all it`s not been unheard of them to send crap out but you do need to test it in another machine before starting the torturous process of returning it. If you do locate a suitable test machine make sure that it running W2K or XP as Win98 in most cases will load and appear fine but W2K and XP uses more of the RAM and uses it in a different fashion which will quickly shows up any deficiencies.

RE: Red Dwarf Series DVDs

I`m trying to get some bright red double DVD cases, you know like the ones used for Spiderman r2 to house my Red Dwarf set but having looked at the release schedule I`m not too sure I can be bothered to wait that long, I want the entire series and I want it now! :)

RE: Band of Brothers - What a load of tosh!

I got by BoB for around the 50squids mark and I also got one for £15 in the Empire deal and watching the £50squids version was as enjoyable as the £15 version. :)

In my opinion BoB needs to be watched at least twice to be able to take in and understand all the information that is being passed to the viewer.

RE: Red Dwarf Series DVDs

Also why the hell are the Red Dwarf DVDs in some crappy DVD case which isn`t even capable of holding the insert in place! Gawd, everytime i buy a series I also have to hunt around for a decent double DVD case to put the damn thing in! Rant Over!

RE: British Troops capture Umm Qasr but contract goes to USA company?

Was mentioned on the Money Programme that only American and British company could tender for work when the time comes to rebuild Iraq. Also and I think this is correct a company that Rumsfelt has a vested interest in has already been awarded one of the early contracts, surprise, surprise!!!!

The Money Programme made some fairly open and important question re the hidden agenda, which the Americans think is really hidden, just show how `stoopid` Bush thinks his people are, regarding the invasion of Iraq and their eagerness to invade ever since 9/11.

RE: Retailer Mis-Price `bargains` - Some Sense at Last

Are people actually going to take Amazon to court over this then?

What is the world coming to, we are all after all only human and therefore make human type mistakes, also the saddos claiming their legal right to the mis-priced goods should remember that they started off with nothing and will probably end up getting nothing, so nothing gained but more importantly nothing lost!

RE: Disk Partition Question

Another vote for Partition Magic, I use version 7 which supports XP and wouldn`t be without it.

RE: Blue Monday is 20 years old - oh man, am I old....

Gawd blimey, only seems like yesterday that Viva L`espania came out. :)

RE: DVD Habits.

I definately fall into the only buy because I like the film and want to keep it, trading to me is a pain and I only really trade or sell p0rn titles after all they`re not really keepies are they. :)

RE: Cheap MP3 Player

I got a Freecom Beatman 64Mb Flash for my daughter, cost me £65, picked it up from my local Computer Exchange and having listened to it and a few other MP3 players the Beatman sounds very very good, it also comes with a decent pair of Koss headphones and can be expanded using an MMC card.

RE: WHAT IS BETTER? FIFA 2003 OR PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2?

It all depends doens`t it, for my 8 year old son I decided on FIFA 2003 as I didn`t really want the hassle of having to name the teams myself, at least with FIFA he can select ManU and all the players are there.

RE: Flight of the Navigator DVD

This is a fantastic film which I have to watch every time it`s shown on TV.

So where`s the queue and who am I standing behind patiently awaiting its release.

RE: TOSHIBA - HOT STUFF - WHY?

Umm! at a rough guess I`d guess that it wasn`t normal. I suppose it`s OK for someone who only has the odd 30 mins of time a day to watch a DVD in multi-part but I prefer to watch a film in a single seating. :)

RE: Anyone know of any good sites for used PC components?

ebay and www.cex.co.uk but cex prices are in most cases comparable to new prices so be warned.

RE: Unforgiven Special Edition, Quality???????

Yeah, I too have the original snapper version and was seriously tempted but on reading the back cover of the new disc it seems as if the extras disc is the only addition.

RE: what is a superbit DVD ?

They are DVDs minus the normal extras ie the entire DVD consists just of the film, this allows the use of the highest sample bitrate hence higher film quality.

RE: The DVD Forums

Could be wrong here but as far as I am aware they got an American company to host the site with guaranteed bandwidth but the server(s) keep on crashing. I assume that until the reasons behind the server crashes is sorted out then there seems little point in maintaining the service where restores or database integrity checks need to be perfomed after every crash.

RE: Where is everyone?

Well I`m a newbie so everyone say HI!

RE: Anyone seen a good price for Band of Brothers?

Tescos also seem to have the tin back in stock but for an ever so pricey 55 crispy notes, OUCH!, that was my wallet feeling the pain!
