Anyone else had any problems playing Spiderman R2 on a Toshiba SD220. In Chapter 22 at 1Hr 17min 04sec the picture freezes (the mugging scene just as the camera pans back to MJ). I think this may be a dual layer problem but instead of just a brief pause the DVD stops totally and the only way to proceed is to skip the chapter and then rewind back to just after the initial pause. I`ve tried playing the DVD on my laptop and it goes through OK with just a slight pause so I think it might be the DVD player.

I had the same problem with Planet of the apes, it froze at the layer change point (the scene where Estella Warren dives in the pool) but having exchanged the disk it was fine.
RE: Spiderman R2 and Toshiba SD220
on the copy I saw the layer changer was earlier than that, it was when it shows all the newspaper clips of spidey. Sounds like a duff pressing!

Same problem, same time,. same player. I bought my player from amazon. It is the multi region player.
Can you confirm same. Not convinced by the bad pressing argument.
Thanks to atc1344 and gingerone. I swapped the Spiderman DVD and the new copy played OK with no problems so yes it was a duff pressing.I initially thought it may have been a problem with the Toshiba SD220 remembering the problems with the Matrix when I had to get Toshiba to swap the model with upgraded firmware. Strange that it played OK on the laptop though. Panic over.

Glad to hear it, what did you think of the film?
I only saw it on sunday as I had heard it was a bit duff and I was blown away, great stuff!
A Fantastic film. Can`t wait for Daredevil now.

sorry Gingerone for doubting you.
Yes, not a bad movie. J Jonah Jamieson was terrific. I still prefer the comic.

My R1 copy freezes at the exact same point on my old Toshiba SD100. It`s fine on my Pioneer DV444 though...

No worries pjnielson, I loved it but my only gripe was the fact that you could never see them talking because of the masks, I think they should exagerate the mouth movements on the next one so it looks like they are speaking and it`s not just dubbed.
