Anyone watched MULHOLLAND DRIVE ***SPOILER***

......................... did you kick the TV in when it ended ?

Jesus, what another piece of non sensicle, arty farty, film noir tripe. Just like Magnolia. I cannot understand for the life of me, how these films get released. GGRRR, the box cover sounded so promising and you`re made aware that you have got to pay attention. Only to find that it ends with virtually no answers and its, well..................... left to you own extremely vague interpretation ! !

It made no sense and I ended up searching the net to get a grip of it, but even the most avid film buffs are clueless. Apart from it loosely being about a woman with amnesia who transforms personalities with another women. .....is that it ? ? ? So what was all the other zany BS ?

On the plus side though, I will admit, the photography is excellent, the girls are absolutely stunning and it gets pretty erotic. But I get so hacked off when they go to such great length to produce something that ends up having as much sense as Monty Python (but at least thats funny !)

No sorry Mr Lynch this really was `Art for Arts sake`

End of Vent, Agree, Disagree ? ?

Does your failure to understand the film say more about you or the film?

I would think it more sensible to hold off declarations of "non sensicle, arty farty, film noir tripe" until you discovered who was at fault.

I love it when people say `MD` sucked because it didn`t make any sense, it really makes my day, I`m just going to go off and laugh now...

Seriously though, rewatch it - it ALL makes complete sense.

And then watch `Lost Highway` and see what you think of that.

If you want a good explanation to the whole film then go to www.thedigitalbits.com and search for the review of the dvd. It gives youy a link to an analysis. Then watch the film again and see what u think..

I agree with Cecil B you can just about, only just though, understand Mulholland Drive as for Lost Highway you need to be slightly demented to get that!

Watch it again and it will fall into place then watch LH and then check yourself into a Looney bin afterwards

Lost Highway is actually a war film.

It`s subtle.

Not having seen M.D. I really can`t, or won`t, comment on it and to be honest most David Lynch films leave me cold (with the exception of The Straight Story and The Elephant Man). But hold on, did this guy just say that Magnolia was a piece of arty farty s***e? Why exactly do you bother watching movies? My advice - stick to watching Big Brother or whatever tat is being passed off as t.v. these days... and hang your head in shame.

And while I`m still on my high horse, watched Royal Tenenbaums last night... another gem of a movie from Wes Anderson though sadly most will probably call it self-indulgent tripe and watch American Pie 6 or whatever the latest flavour of the month gross-out "comedy" is.

mulholland drive is a decent flick which says volumes about the human experience without spelling it out, which i presume is lynch`s m.o., not having watched many of his films (i`ve seen lost highway but lost the plot bigtime on that one... )

its all about betty/diane and her aspirations, imaginings and ultimate outcome - definitely not art for art`s sake

and don`t dis magnolia either, unless you have no appreciation of emotional intelligence...

I think that maybe all David Lynch films should have a warning on the box along these lines -

WARNING!
This is a David Lynch film!
It is NOT a conventional film.
It does not have the same plot and characters as 5000 other films you have seen before!
It is made by a very strange man who is actually trying to make something ORIGINAL!
It may actually provoke some sort of reaction in your brain!
If you are likely to be offended by this please DO NOT rent it and then moan about the fact that you didn`t understand it.
Go and rent something with Adam Sandler in it instead.
