There was a discussion about this release at SGM, from the anchor bay specs it seems they are repackaging the discs that are already available in the uk :(
I hope that is wrong

No you are absolutely right!

Wait for the region 1 special editions of "Dawn" and "Day" and buy the region 1 "Millenium Edition" of "Night" if you want the best versions of Romero`s trilogy.

Just had a closer look at this piece of crap in Woolies and would not advise anyone to buy it!

Reason-
It contains the DREADED 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION of `Night`!!!!!

The most pointless reworking of a classic in film history!

Also `Dawn` is more than likely to be the same old censored `18` version!

By the way, the region 2 version of `Day` which has been available for ages is uncut!

Using the 30th Anniversary Edition is a real insult to all fans of Night of the Living Dead. Apparently, the reasoning behind this bastardised version is so that members of the original film’s cast and crew can finally make some money. A copyright cock-up in the late ‘60s ensured that the film was condemned to reside in the public domain. This means that anyone with the technology to mass-produce video cassettes or DVDs is entitled to release the original cut, explaining why there are so many different versions available.

John Russo attempted to overcome this (without any involvement from George A. Romero) by removing some vital material and replacing it with 15+ minutes of abysmal new scenes and a soundtrack that sounds like it’s being performed on a Yamaha electronic organ. Because more than 10% of the 30th Anniversary Edition was entirely new footage, Russo and his cohorts now had a version of the film that was protected by copyright law.

The Anchor Bay USA release featured both the new butchered cut and the original cut (although this was still ruined by the awful new soundtrack). Ironically, the latter cut was mastered from the original negatives and is visually far superior to Elite’s Millennium Edition. Why Anchor Bay didn’t use the visuals from this print and simply remaster the original (unspoiled) soundtrack is quite beyond me. After all, it’s not as if there would have been any rights issues. It would also have resulted in the greatest edition of NotLD ever. Oh well, another missed opportunity.

Where can I find info regarding the `Dawn` & `Day` R1 special editions?

Cheers.
