average of 9 quid for vcd`s ??. I dont think so - got a few official vcds in hong kong last month, and the quality doesnt approach that of dvds.

Yes, they`re not as good as DVD, but they`re better than VHS. E.g. if you were wanting Star Wars and weren`t prepared to wait for the DVDs in 2006 (or whenever) then the VCDs would be a better bet.

you can pick up vcd films for a fiver from your local computer fair, i think excalibur computer fairs have them there at various stalls, i personally dont go for them caus eyou have to get up to swap disks, the sound isnt dolby digital, so id rather go fot the dvd;s, tend to watch the films i dont want to pay to see at cinema and dotn want to buy on dvd, watch these on vcd.

Why don`t you just get a broad band connection for £25 and make your own vdc`s for 30p a go - you will need kazaa ( a sofware application like napstar).

Naturally, the only home-made VCDs you`re referring to are ones from camcorder footage (see http://www.vcdhelp.com) right ? (ahem : Forum Rules alert, Blitz !)
