Harry Potter at CD Wow - Philosopher or Sorcerer?

Barnum42 (Competent) posted this on Friday, 15th March 2002, 21:51

Just been browsing the vastly expanded range of DVDs at CD Wow. I notice they have "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" for £13.99. But it is the Region 1 American Version. I think that would mean it is the Sorcerer's Stone not Philosopher's Stone.

I have just emailed CD Wow to see what version it is as I would much prefer the correct English version and not the one ordered by American corporate suits.

CD Wow have always been very good with feedback, so I should hear soon.

The Canadian R1 version is Philosopher, the US R1 version is Sorceror.

I think CD Wow source their DVDs from both Canada and the US.

CD Wow have confirmed that it is the Canadian version and therefore Philosopher.

£13.99 from them.

I always thought that CD Wow sourced from the US or Canada but this morning I received my Moulin Rouge from them, and it was Region 4 Australian.....no complaints here as on my machine PAL always plays slightly clearer than NTSC. Does anyone else find fine horizontal lines across the screen when playing Region 1 discs?

Can reinforce that the R1 Canadian disc is Phil. not sorc.

Girlfriend was planning to load up on canadian discs (for £10 a pop) and sell them here but its not out yet.

Does anyone know if they have already pencilled in another release (i.e Collectors edition, 2 disk etc) as I was quite surprised to see that it was only 1 disk.

It IS 2 disc - see http://www.play.com/Play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=100710 (R2) and
http://www.play.com/Play247.asp?page=title&r=R1&title=100090 (R1)

Weird thing is that CDWOW are listing the release date as 11th May - the R2 date.

Voles
